About me

This is the professional site of myself, Timothy Lang, a web developer in the Chicago Metro region in Oak Park, IL. I have over 10 years of experience in web development and have worked with a wide variety of clients, from large institutions like the American Farm Bureau and the Illinois Tollway to individuals setting up a small business online. During my career I’ve worked on small teams and have performed many roles: creative director, programmer, art director, information architect, DBA, project manager, and server administrator; to me the title “web developer” sums it up best. I am currently available for hire. Because of my broad skill set I can eliminate the need for hiring both a designer and programmer, and I am excellent at integrating all sides of the development process. Integration is one of the key problems in web development, both from a technical and management standpoint and can cause a project to derail indefinitely. I know how to get things done and have the experience of taking dozens of projects singlehandedly from concept to completion. The web is not only my profession but a passion. I believe in its power to truly transform and it has never been more exciting than today. I keep well informed on the latest and greatest ideas, people and technology. However, I avoid thinking in terms of “Web 2.0”, and keep a jaundiced eye towards new technology for technology’s sake. Instead I focus on fulfilling the everyday needs of users that just want things to work.
